I'd like to ask you about your preferences in food and drinks. What do you eat before a match to preserve strength during it and what do you drink before and during a match (Maria Fomenko from Russia) |

Badminton is a very demanding physical sport, especially men's singles, and therefor you need to think very carefully about what you are eating and drinking everyday - and especially during a tournament. I have a very healthy and natural view of what I put in my body. My food contains a variety of many styles. Pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables, etc. In between matches I drink a lot of water - Natural Mineral Water - not destilled water, because you need the minerals. A little bit of softdrinks: Faxe Kondi, Coca Cola. A little fruitjuice - but it can be very hard on the stomach.
During matches water is not enough - I drink a sportsdrink called Maxim. A mix of carbohydrates and minerals mixed with water. And remember - you can`t drink too much. If I'm playing in Asia under very hot and humid conditions I drink up to 6 l per day. Good luck ! |

In your games and on photos I see you with an MP88. Why you don't change your racket ? And what kind of string and tension do you use on your racket ? (Rui Almeida from Portugal) |
You are right, I am using the MP 88. I think the MP 88 and the old Isometric Slim 10 are some of the best rackets Yonex ever made. But now I am considering to change for a new racket. Maybe I will play the new Nanospeed 8000 from Yonex before the Worlds in Los Angeles in August. I am using the BG 80-string. My stringing tension is between 17-18 kp on normal stringing-machines and 14-15 kp on Babolat professional stringing-machine. |

Do you take any food supplements like creatin? And do you have any special diet-plan? (Rasmus Andersen from Denmark) |
No, I don`t take any food supplements. I only use a vitamin called Glucosamin which is good for the bones. But I have never used stuff like creatin. I try to feed myself very healthy with a lot of vitamins. But I do not have any special diet plan. |
